China to expand teacher training resources

01/07/2009

A key provider of teacher training programmes has announced plans to expand its operations to ensure improved national standards across China.

China Education Resources (CER) will provide two new online teacher training programmes this summer for the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) and the GANSU provincial project.

Chengfeng Zhou, chairman and chief executive officer of CER, said: "We are one of the few companies which has been selected by the MOE to conduct teacher training on a national basis."

He added that the backing of the ministry means that it will be able to expand not only its teacher training products but also provide more resources for students.

CER have already tested a real-time online tutoring service that is aimed at students via its Education Service Portal. The system can also be used offline for those without access to the internet.

Meanwhile, Forbes reports that some ten million Chinese students have just finished this year's three-day national college entrance tests.
