WORLD OF VOLUNTEERING:
VSO Bahaginan celebrates International Volunteers' Day

VSO 50th Anniversary

Hundreds of people trooped to Robinson’s Galleria on December 12, 2007 to participate in VSO Bahaginan’s activity fair, entitled "World of Volunteering", held in celebration of International Volunteers’ Day.

The event was aimed at capturing more people's attention and interest in volunteerism. Visitors to the fair, young and old alike, learned the what's and how's of volunteering in Africa, Asia and other developing countries from returned volunteers at the Information Lounge. Exhibits displayed Bahaginan's international volunteering opportunities and other volunteer programs.

International volunteers shared the stage as they talked about their passion for volunteering and the benefits they have gained from their experiences, with topics such as "Pinoy international volunteers: Emerging breed of new role models"; "Mula Makati, papuntang Kenya: The road less traveled by business and management volunteers in Africa"; and "Isang mundo tayo: Bridging cultures, building peace through volunteering".

Also, to kick-off the 50th year celebration of VSO worldwide, Rock for Humanity bands Toyo and Makina, and popular mod band Juan Pablo Dream livened up the crowd with dynamic renditions of their popular songs.

The event was definitely a success for VSO Bahaginan as it attracted more people to explore and appreciate the world of volunteering, and hopefully, to join the roster of Filipino volunteers in making a difference away from home.
